Another fine day, another refresh for Windows 10. This time around it is treated to another cumulative update, KB3118754, which brings the operating system to version 10586.11.
Redmond wants to ensure that its new operating platform keeps running smooth.
The Windows as a Service approach — wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
This new update is aimed at those running Windows 10 Threshold 2, so if you are running this version of the operating system then simply fire up the Windows Update panel and look for this release when you are ready to deploy it.
Or alternatively, you can go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website to manually deploy this patch.
And while we do not have the full details of what this particular refresh brings to the table, the release notes point out that the update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of TH2:
“This update includes improvements to enhance the functionality of Windows 10 Version 1511.
Windows 10 Version 1511 updates are cumulative. Therefore, this package contains all previously-released fixes (see 3105211). If you have installed previous updates, only the new fixes that are contained in this package will be downloaded and installed to your computer.”
Microsoft does mention in the changelog that this update replaces the previously released update 3105211. For those of you keeping the count.
Another nice little tidbit, as noted by Richard Hay of WinSuperSite is that with this latest update, Windows 10 on PC, Mobile and Xbox all share the same build number for the first time in history.
Now that calls for a celebration!
But only after rebooting your machine, as KB3118754 requires a restart after installation.
