Communication strategies have been understood in there are more similar than difference. Tiwaporn Kongsom (2009) the students were pause fillers and hesitation devices, followed by circumlocution, appeal for help, clarification request and confirmation check. The least useful CSs were message abandonment, followed by foreignizing, code switching, word coinage and topic avoidance. It should be noted that there was a correlation between what they perceived as useful and what they actually used (as reported on the results of CS use). In addition, the results of previous research (Wongsawang, 2001; Wannaruk, 2002; Weerarak, 2003; Pornpibul, 2005) and the results from speaking tasks in the pilot study revealed that Communication strategies which were commonly used by Thai learners were similar to the proposed taxonomy in study.
