In the South African English language, there is a constant monopolization of consonants; for example, one may say “Ran bear” instead of “Ransburg” or an, I is pronounced as ah. South African English speakers have many different accents, which often signal the speaker's home or mother tongue language. Mother tongue languages are an important part of an individual’s sense of self. There is a huge influence of mother tongue languages in South African English. Many people tend to grossly exaggerate and emphasize on the last words in a sentence. Therefore, there should be exceptions to the English language because not everybody speaks the way they write. One needs to be flexible and dynamic with language. Pronunciation and accents are a few problems in the English language. Everybody should be free to speak English without the fear of being judged, misunderstood or ridiculed, because everybody has a threshold of tolerance and not everyone can speak the same.
