immune- and digestion-related genes in the midgut of shrimp fed
with the supernatant of L. pentosus HC-2 were significantly upregulated,
except for PEN-3α and proPO.
At four weeks post-feeding (Fig. 2B), the investigated genes, except
proPO, which had lower expression, were also significantly (P N 0.05)
up-regulated in the midgut of shrimp fed E. faecium NRW-2 compared
to shrimp fed L. pentosus HC-2. The transcripts of PEN-3α, proPO, trypsin
and α-amylase were significantly increased by L. pentosus HC-2
supplementation compared to the supernatant of L. pentosus HC-2
diet-fed shrimp.
