Fig. 5 shows that U1 area, which requires the most urgent identi-
fication owing to its higher level of damage, can be identified well in
several different polarimetric parameters. For the partly damaged
case (U2), the distinctiveness of temporal classes is generally lower
than in swept urban area. In such cases, ρHHVV may be the most effective
parameter among polarimetric measurements. On the other
hand, two different types of farmlands (F1 and F2) reveal different
characteristics in temporal separability of polarimetric parameters.
PV, A, and ρRRLL exhibit high temporal distinctiveness for F1, while
PS, H, and ρHHVV exhibit high temporal distinctiveness for F2. The polarimetric
orientation angle shows no apparent discriminability between
damaged and undamaged scattering targets for all land cover
types.
