The developed mathematical model for the curved venetian blind with thickness is now verified for its accuracy by comparing its predicted results with the experimental results.
The predicted results from the developed model are in the form of the transmitted radiation through the 3 mm. clear glass window installed with venetian blind.
The venetian blinds used in this study are white vinyl blind and black vinyl blind.
The optical properties of the white and black ventian blind are shown in Table 2.
The predicted results are compared with the experimental results obtained by Chantrasrisalai and Fisher (2006). Chantrasrisalai measured the incident solar radiation on the glass window by using pyranometer installed in front of the glass window.
He also measured the transmitted radiation through the glass window installed with venetian blind with another two pyranometers installed behind the venetian blind.
The glass window in the experimental room is facing west.
Therefore the glass window received diffuse radiation from the sky and the ground in the morning and received both the direct and diffuse radiation in the afternoon.
The measured results were expressed in the form of the ratio of the transmitted radiation to the incident radiation.
