As a term in biology, antibiosis is an association between two or more microorganisms that is harmful to at least one of them.
The success of a target microorganism’s deterioration is that microorganisms named antagonistic microorganisms produce metabolic compounds with antibiotic activity which can directly inhibit, poison or kill target microorganisms.
This association can be observed as a zone of inhibition appearing between two microorganisms while growing together on agar plates.
