This mixer is often used, where it is desirable to mix fragile ingredients, such as flaked or crimped grains, with molasses. The mixer’s action keeps the grains intact with the molasses, while being as gentle as possible. These mixers run at relatively low speeds, approximately 100 RPM. Molasses is metered into these mixers about 6’’ after the ribbon flighting starts. Also, breaker bars may be installed to help distribute the molasses on to the grain, if the action of the ribbon is not sufficient.
