In the first of this study, taxiphyllin distribution along the radial and vertical axes of bamboo shoot was in vestigated in order to identify the proper part of bamboo shoot for subsequent kinetics study. The statistical analy sis of the results indicated that taxiphyllin was uniformly distributed in bamboo shoot along its radius. But this substance was not evenly distributed along the vertical axis; the apical part of bamboo shoot was found to contain the highest level of taxiphyllin. It was therefore chosen for the kinetic study.
