The case is about analysis the effect of stereotype of the movie Juno (2007) in society. Juno is the movie about a girl whose name is Juno, and she was described as a confident and intelligent teenage girl. In the movie, her life had become more complicated since she got pregnant. She finally came with her big decision as giving her child to a single parenthood-Vanessa, who doesn’t need man in her life to go along with. The movie is a special case that showed women as intelligent girls that rarely can be seen in movies or media, according to Wesley Morris of The Boston Globe. The film also portrayed how they would treat teenage pregnancy was different from normally, or at least in media. The way they handled the situation was really attract the viewers and gave a different look at what we used to see. Stereotype girls in media would be portrayed as soft and feminine, fragile and not independent, mostly depend on men. However, in this movie, they have shown another side of women: “Isn’t love, romance, or respect for life, but the triumph of feminist ideology, i.e., the irrelevancy of men, especially fathers”, according to Antifeminist Phyllis Schlafly. That “strong woman” could deal with anything whether men was there or not. Women are smart, funny and Cody said about writing the film as he wanted to show that “these girls were human and not the stereotypical teenage girls that we often see in the media” and he also said “There was a lack of authentic teen girl characters… I saw writing this screenplay as an opportunity to create an iconic female.”. This film could bring the new perspective and become the supportive for young girls to feel that they are able to be responsible for their decision, for themselves.
