through the Caribbean suggest smaller L∞, faster growth rates and a
higher maximum observed age (Table 1). This may be due to the size
range of fish sampled or the specific aging methods used, but may
also be a result of an increase in fishing pressure on these populations.
The reliability of growth curves constructed for wahoo to date
has been severely compromised by the lack of small fish in samples,
as is shown by the highly negative estimates of t0 (Table 1, Fig. 3).
In contrast to other growth parameters, longevity estimates appear
reasonably consistent between more recent studies, coinciding at
a maximum age of approximately 10 years (Table 1).
