Predation
In addition to the observations of the hagfish defence mechanism, we documented predatory behaviour by a slender hagfish (Neomyxine sp.1) on a red bandfish Cepola haastii (Hector) (family Cepolidae) from a stereo-video unit deployed in December 2009 at a depth of 97m off Great Barrier Island, New Zealand (35° 58.860' S, 175° 24.103' E, see Methods).
