2013 Southeast Asian Games' fights (for 14 gold medals) will be ruled by Southeast Asian Muay Federation.[16] Other rules are those of International Federation of Muaythai Amateur(Ifma) and subordinate organizations (Federation of Amateur Muaythai of Asia(Fama) and other organizations recognized[16] by Ifma (such as Amateur Muaythai Association of Thailand—Amat).
There have been tournaments where elbow strikes are only permitted in the last fight of each weightclass.
