Did stella make the right decision at the end of the play?
I think Stella is right because Stella is as empty-headed and irresponsible as the family who raised her. Even though she does love her sister, and she wishes that things were different, the fact remains that Stella is powerless, and still too dependent on Stanley to stand up for herself and for what is correct. But Stanley’s aggressive and nasty streak of violence against his wife even his friends. His rape of Blanche is a terrifying and destructive act. As a result, she commits the ultimate act of betrayal by sending her own sister to a mental institution rather than to severe ties with her husband and trying to make life better for the two of them. Blood is not thicker than water in the case of Stella and Blanche.
