The pong lang is a log xylophone from the Isan region of northeast Thailand.
The pong lang has 12 wooden bars that, with a strong rope, are tied together in a row at each end. The instrument can be played solo or in an ensemble. The pong lang is used for all kinds of occasions, especially for festivals and ceremonies.
History of pong lang were created not so long around 80 year ago, first ponglang had only 6 pieces in these time, later adapted ponglang to be 9 pieces into 5 tones melody, after pass away,keep continue to played ponglang and got student name "Pluang Chayrusami" since then his change wooden from began to be mahad wood and have to be dead wood about 20 years before take it to made ponglang instead of dry and good sound when play.
