By far the largest living group of ungulates (hoofed animals) are even-toed ungulates or artiodactyls,
with an even number of hoof-tipped toes per foot. They include pigs (suids), hippos, camels and llamas
(camelids), deer (ceruids), giraffes (giraffids) and the enormous bovid family of antelopes, gazelles, cattle,
sheep and goats. All have a rich fossil history across all the continents except Australia and Antarctica.
