What you are going to do:
Research bristlebots (brushbots). You will need to understand not only how to build one, but how it works (electrical circuit, why the motor vibrates, how the bristlebot moves).
Construct a brushbot given the appropriate basic materials
Why you are doing it:
The purpose of the bristlebot is to travel down a track as fast as possible and win endless fame, respect and glory.
Who you are making it for:
The requesting organization is the International School Bangkok (ISB) Olympic Bot Games Organization located in Nichada Thani, Pakkret, Thailand. Your contact person is Mr. D Young.
Size and Dimension Constraints:
Race track will be approximately 100 cm in length and 5 cm in width. Rails will separate the racing lanes. The actual track used will be available for inspection.
Construction Constraints:
Bristlebots will be made using only the battery and pager motors provided.
Toothbrushes of any type can be substituted
Bristles may be trimmed, cut or removed in any manner.
Brush head can be any length or shape
Motor and battery can be attached in any position to the brush head.
additional components may be added to your design with the permission of your instructor
Organizational Constraints:
Each race will be the best of 3 sprints. Speed and reliability are therefore both important.
Your bristlebot will need a name.
Each student will submit a final reflection and evaluation in accordance to the details provided with the assignment.
Time Constraints (check class calendar for due dates):
Due before beginning construction
research notes on how bristlebot works
at least 3 design ideas outlined
You will be given 1 period to assemble and test your bristlebot.
Due in class period following construction time
completed bristlebot ready to race
