Hub-Height Wind Direction
The distribution of wind direction, often expressed in combination with wind speed as a wind rose, is important input primarily for micrositing of turbines within a wind plant. The information is used by wind farm design tools to optimize locations of individual turbines with respect to spacing and wakes. As is the case for wind speed, there are no long-term hub-height measurements in U.S. waters from which wind roses can be constructed.
