There was, however, a significant difference between intervention
and control schools on the BPVS (P = 0.040).
Control schools performed significantly better than the
intervention schools at the P < 0.05 level of significance. As
the control group’s performance on a measure of vocabulary
understanding was significantly better than the intervention
group, it could be argued that (as this is a predictor
of academic potential) they should be more likely to
perform well; however, it should be noted that no difference
was found on this measure on the Dyslexia Screener
vocabulary subtest.
