Chemical compositions With regard to the chemical composition, 1.5% propolis treatment did not generate any significant difference (˛ = 0.05) from control samples, for all three parameters measured (SS, AA, TS), regardless of the date of measurement. This lack of significant difference may be due to a relatively high variability among the results obtained from each groups of replicates. However, the 1.5% chitosan treatment was significantly different (˛ = 0.05) as compared to 1.5% propolis treatment and to control samples, for all three parameters, and at each measurement dates (Table 4). The levels of titratable acidity (TA) and ascorbic acid (AA) content were continuously higher, and the total soluble solids content lower forchitosan-treated fruits compared with propolis treated and control fruits. With regard to the effect of the treatments over the time, chi-tosan treatment maintained better the chemical composition of the fruit than propolis or untreated fruit. The three measured param-eters were not significantly different over the time, days 14 and21, for chitosan-treated fruits, while significant differences were observed with propolis or untreated fruit over the same period.
