We now review studies on major trends
that have helped shape current modes of
thinking on people management in the
tourism and hospitality industry. As we
discuss below, most of the contemporary
literature that has relevance for the management
of people seems to fall in one of
the following categories (although there
are other issues): (1) employee personality
and emotional intelligence, (2) emotional
and aesthetic labor, (3) HRM practices,
(4) internal marketing, (5) organizational
culture and climate, (6) business and HRM
strategy, and (7) employee job attitudes
and behaviors.
