The sumptuously decorated mihrab is adorned with architectural moulds in white marble in the lower zone and in gold on the upper. At the height of the capitals, probably spolia and richly gilded, there unfurls a band of gold showing elegant blind trefoil arches above which runs an inscription in thulth characters, a favourite in the Mamluk age for its elegance. over the niche, emblazoning the haft-dome and illuminating the sultan at his prayer.
