New firms often do not have facilities to test out product development. Fortunately entrepreneurs, on an increasing basis, have access to colleges and university facilities. Globus Cellular & User Protection Ltd. Used the physics laboratories at the university Collegs of the Okanagan to assist in testing and developing its radiation shielding products (see case study). The Waterloo Innovation Centre, located at the University of waterloo in Ontario, assists in product evaluation and R&D applications as do others across the country. Indeed most postsecondary education institutions are actively searching out opportunities to provide research support to small firms and industry.
