4.3.1 Heuristic evaluation for Games
Most of video games require constant interaction, so Game Designers must pay attention to usability
issues; for example, the degree to which a player is able to learn, control and understand a
game. Having failure to design usable game interfaces can interfere with the larger goal of creating
a compelling experience for the users, and can have a negative effect on the overall quality
and success of a game. Additionally, Game Designers need a method for identifying usability
problems both in early designs and in more mature prototypes. However, there are few formal
methods for evaluating the usability of game interfaces (Pinelle, D. et al. 2008). In this subchapter,
I will introduce a set of Heuristics which can be used to carry out usability inspection of
video games.
