1. The promoter of this competition is EF Educational Foundation for Foreign Study Ltd., a Swiss company located at: Haldenstrasse 4, 6006 Lucerne, Switzerland (the “Promoter”).
2. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry (the “Conditions of Entry”). Entry into this promotion is deemed acceptance of the Conditions of Entry.
3. Entry is free and open to residents of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, The Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea and Thailand aged 14-18 years of age who complete, in full, the competition and essay form available on the EF webpage at www.ef.com/exchangeweek. For a competition to be completed participants will need to complete the the form with their contact details and complete the essay “tell us why you want to spend a week in the USA.” Once all these steps are completed and submitted an entry will be considered valid.
4. Employees and immediate families of the Promoter and suppliers, providers and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter.
5. The promotion commences 25th August and closes on 30th September 2015. The Promoter reserves the right to extend or reduce the duration for a valid reason, provided that the change will be published in this page www.ef.com/exchangeweek. The Promoter also reserves the right to modify the terms of the competition (including but not limited to the Conditions of Entry) as well as cancel the competition due to a diligent cause and inform the public on the aforementioned page.
6. Entrants can only enter in their own name. The Promoter reserves the right to request proof of residency at the stated address and identification for verification (to the Promoter's satisfaction in its discretion) before issuing the prize. Incomplete or incomprehensible entries will be deemed invalid. The Promoter's decision to disqualify an entry is final and no correspondence will be entered into. No responsibility will be taken for lost, late or misdirected entries. Entrants can enter the competition once during the promotional period.
7. The one (1) winner will be selected by a panel of EF staff members based on their essay on “why do you want to experience a week in the USA”. The winner will win a trip for one (1) to the to the USA to experience a one-week exchange program. The winner must meet EF High School Exchange Year’s program eligibility requirements with regards to grades, English level, health and maturity as described at: www.ef.com/highschool
The trips will cover the following expenses: Economy class flight ticket, including taxes, accommodation with a fully screened and experienced EF host family that is currently hosting an EF exchange student, travel arrangements in the USA, attendance at a public American high school. The winner is responsible for all the necessary documents required for entry into relevant country/countries. Any costs relating to the issuance of these documents shall be borne by the winners. The trips will be made during the following dates: 01.11.2015 – 01.04.16.the-great_10@hotmail.com
The following terms apply:
The organization of the trip will be arranged by EF Educational Foundation for Foreign Study Ltd. The winner of the prize cannot make the trip in conjunction with any other supplier or travel agency.
The airline, airline tickets and host family are selected by EF Educational Foundation for Foreign Study Ltd. If the winners want to choose another airline, airline tickets, any additional costs will be charged to the winners.
All necessary travel documents belonging to the obligations of travelers must be in place. The Promoter have no further obligation and do not assume any responsibility in the event that either the winners or any other participant in the journey cannot make the trip because of missing or invalid travel documents.
All of the above the elements that compose the ''gift package travel.” Anything not listed automatically mean that is not included in the gift so the organizer has no further obligation.
The prizes are not transferable or refundable. If the winners are unable to use them in accordance with the restrictions above, the winner shall be deemed to have forfeited the prize. Prizes are non-negotiable and subject to availability, with no cash or credit alternatives offered.
8. Each potential winner may be required to submit an affidavit of edibility / release of liability / prize acceptance agreement (collectively, the “Affidavit”) and return the Affidavit within the time period specified at notification before being eligible to receive his/her prize. Parents or legal guardians of any potential winner who is under the age of majority in their country may be required to also sign the Affidavit in order for the potential prize winner to be qualified to receive his/her prize.
9. In the event a prize winner and/or his/her travel companion engage in behavior that (as determined by the Promoter or any prize provider in its or their sole and absolute discretion) is obnoxious, inappropriate, or threatening, illegal or that is intended to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person, Promoter reserves the right to terminate the trip or other applicable experience early.
10. The winners will be notified by email following the selection (week commencing 12th October 2015). Their name and winning entry will be published on www.ef.com and via our social networks. In the event that the prize notification email is returned as undeliverable, such prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected from all remaining (non-winning) eligible entries. Names of the winners (first name, last name and city) may also be announced in further promotional communication from EF.
11. The Promoter will award the specific prize to the second drawn entry within that region prize pool, if the prize remains unclaimed within a seventy two (72) hour period after the prize notification email is sent.
12. Winners must make their own make their own arrangements to and from the selected departure/return point in their home country, if applicable.
13. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any variation in the perceived value. Prize, or any unused portion of the prize, is not transferable or exchangeable for other goods or services and cannot be taken as cash.
14. In the event of war, terrorism, state of emergency, disaster or any other circumstance beyond the control of the Promoter, the Promoter reserves the right to either provide an alternative travel destination to the same value as the original prize or, subject to any applicable laws or written directions made under applicable legislation, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion.
15. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury (including death) suffered or sustained in connection entrants’ participation in the promotion and/or related to the prize except for any liability, which cannot be excluded by law (in which case such liability is limited to the maximum extent allowable by law). The Promoter will not be responsible for any incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete information communicated in the course of or in connection with this promotion if the deficiency is occasioned by any cause outside the reasonable control of the Promoter including without limitation technical malfunctions or failures. Tax implications may arise from the receipt or use of a prize. Independent financial advice should be sought.
16. If for any reason this promotion is not capable of running as planned because of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion subject to any written directions under applicable legislation. The Promoter also reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions, or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardize the fair and proper conduct of the promotion. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.

The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation in or down-loading any materials in this promotion.
18. All entries and any copyright subsisting in the entries become and remain the property of the Promoter. The Promoter collects contact information about entrants in order to contact them about the promotion and where appropriate award prizes and may also use the information to assist the Promoter in improving goods and services and to contact entrants in the future with special offers via any medium including mail and commercial electronic messages.
