In the prototype, a Motoman HP6 multi-application robot driven by an NX100 industrial robot controller is used for probe manipulation. The NX100 controller has external
communication connections, such as RS232 and Ethernet, and is able to communicate with personal computers by using a communication protocol developed by Motoman. However, in the SINTEST project, instead of using the expensive original library, an own library has been developed in order to exchange information between the robot and the computer, thus ensuring remote control and supervision of the system.
