The results of analyzing the CPs can provide some preliminary extensions to the three included theories. In terms of the contingency theory, it seems that top management is (as expected) primarily responsible for ensuring the fit between the strategy and contingencies in a company's environment. However, that fit should be communicated across the organization and the employees must also understand the contingencies in order to be able to contribute to a realization of the strategy. Their contribution to success in coping with contingencies should be measured and clearly communicated.
