The coffeehouse industry in the United States was forecasted to generate more than 31 billion U.S. dollars in revenue in 2015. Coffeehouses come in a variety of forms but, traditionally, they are small establishments selling prepared coffee, tea and other hot beverages. More recently, many coffeehouses compete with other restaurants in the limited-service category by serving baked goods, sandwiches, salads and other snack items. In the U.S., coffeehouses make up just a small sector of the vast food and drink industry which expected to see sales of around 710 billion U.S. dollars in 2015.
