Micro algae are known to remove dyes by bioadsorption, biodegradation and bioconversion. Microalgae degrade dyes
for nitrogen source, by removing nitrogen, phosphorus, and carbon from water, it can help reduce eutrophication in the aquatic environment (Olguı´n, 2003; Ruiz et al., 2011) and, are unique in sequestering carbon dioxide, one of the main
contributors to the greenhouse effect (Mata et al., 2011).
