No significant differences were found in aerobic bacteria countbetween control and MAP tomatoes, and neither between tomatoespacked in the different films. Aerobic bacteria count presented a significantincrease from 1.6 log CFU g−1 (day 0) to 3.7 log CFU g−1 (day21) on average for all conditions studied. Consequently, packaging inmodified atmosphere did not significantly affect the aerobic bacteriacount in the product. Microbial load was not a limiting parameter of theshelf life of RTE cherry tomatoes in the period studied (Centre for FoodSafety, 2014).
