Herein we describe the isolation and structural elucidation of a novel benzyl benzoate glycoside from the North American prairie plant stiff goldenrod (Oligoneuron rigidum)
Our interest in this plant was initiated by the crude extract’s ability to inhibit the growth of microbes on the surface of cheese, which is the simple assay used by us for identifying natural food preservatives.
