2.2. Sample and setting
First, the researchers accessed news media reports or journals to identify hospitals that have been performing telecare services in Taiwan. A purposive sample was used to recruit participants from northern, central, southern, and eastern areas of Taiwan. After excluding the hospitals which were unwilling to participate in this study, hospital size and years of telecare service development were considered. Finally, two medical centers in the northern and central areas, and a medical center and two regional hospitals in the southern area were recruited in this study. The number of beds in these hospitals ranged from 480 to 2000. The first author obtained consent to participate from the person who was in charge of the telecare department in the hospitals, after which the person in-charge referred the leader driving telecare and members who were eligible interview subjects. Following this, the interview was scheduled with the participants. The inclusion criteria were the participant must be a healthcare provider with experience more than six months in provision of home telecare, willing to participate in the interviews. A total of 31 participants participated in the interviews, including eleven case managers, seven physicians, seven administrators, and six community nurses.
