The increase in atmospheric CO2, along with increase
in other greenhouse gases, is believed to be changing
the earth’s energy balance (Haskett et al. 2000). There
has been recent confirmation of anthropogenic changes
in earth’s climate related to this increase. According to
forecasts the probability, frequency, duration and intensity
of extreme hydrological events and soil moisture
situations (flood, water logging, over moistening versus
drought, sometimes in the same year, in the same
place) will be increasing in the future because of climate
change, and its consequences.
