Kachru (1985) divides English in the world into three circles: the inner circle consisting of “native” speakers for whom English is the first and often only language; the outer circle of people using English as a second language for official and inter-state as well as international communication’ and the expanding circle of speakers learning English as a foreign language, generally for specific purpose.
