When wall E- won the Acadamy Award for best animated feature in February 2009, it hardly took anyone by surprise, The latest offering from Pixar Animation Studios had already been heralded by almost all the critics as soon as it was released during the prior summer. It went on to gross $533 million in theaters worldwide, lading among the top 10 animated films of all time (See Exhibit 1). Wall-E managed to achieve this success in spite of its challenging theme: It centered on robots and had little dialogue. Moreover, with this win, Pixar claimed its fourth feature length animation Oscar, which represented half of the category, was added in 2001.
