Blue mold decay caused by Penicillium expansum is
one of the most destructive postharvest diseases of pear
(Spotts & Chen, 1987). Pears destined for long-term
storage are generally treated with the fungicides to control
postharvest pathogens (Kupferman, 1998). Elucidating
non-chemical control methods to reduce
postharvest decay is becoming more important. Consumers
are demanding less chemical residue on fresh
produce, and many fungi are developing resistance
