One excellent example of work in the mode of analytic political philosophy is Hannah Pitkin’s study, The Concept of Representation , in which the author examines the varied ways in which, over the last several centuries, the word representation has been used in order to make clear what general, central meaning it has. 13 A useful collection of analytic works is Political Philosophy, edited by Anthony Quinton. 14
