Some materials have characteristic microstructures that can be used for
confirmation of their presence. For instance, fused magnesia, sintered magnesia,
and seawater magnesia are structurally different. Similarly, calcined alumina,
tabular alumina, and white fused and brown fused alumina all have very different
characteristics.
