Mini-Bars/Honor Bar
1. Purpose: To establish policy and procedures by ensuring the process and recording of resale items.
2. Scope: To guarantee the accountability of mini-bar/honor bar resale items (to include alcoholic beverages and other consumable food items).
3. Authority Responsibility: This operating procedure applies to all mini-bar/honor bar attendants, housekeeping staff and supervisors.
4. Procedures:
a. All mini-bar/honor bar items will be ordered and stored in a locked storage room with accessibility to authorized personnel only.
b. Inventory will be maintained daily and reconciled monthly by the supervisor.
c. All guests will be assessed charges according to consumption of mini-bar/honor bar sundries, which will be monitored daily by designated personnel (housekeeper/front desk).
d. All consumption(s) will be logged on “charge sheet” daily and forwarded to the front desk for posting to guest folio.
e. All consumed items will be replenished daily as per consumption.
f. All stock items will be rotated (FIFO) First In, First Out.
g. All items stocked in mini-bar/honor bars will be checked periodically for expiration dates. If the items have expired they will be removed, properly disposed of, and accounted for spoilage and breakage on the (End of Month) Inventor.
h. These expired items will then be replenished.
