Since the type of vegetal organ (leaf), the environmental conditions, and the oil
extraction process were the same for all species tested here, the results must reflect the
larvicidal action specific to each plant species with different LC values (c2
, 1%), and a
high correlation between lethality and oil concentration (R2) was observed, indicating
that C. citratus presents the best action, presenting the lowest LC values (Table 2). A.
speciosa, however, showed the fastest lethality at treatments with higher concentrations. These results suggest the importance of time of action vs. essential-oil
concentration for selection of a plant or its active principle with respect to biological
activity, depending on the target organism.
