C. If the finished part is too large to drop out of the grinder (i.e. -
bracelets), shut the hydraulic system off and proceed as follows:
Place an unground piece of stock on work rest blade. This
could be either solid stock or tubular (i.e. - bracelets). Slide
ram and ram bed assembly forward until unground stock is
within approximately 1/8" from the face of the work wheel
(See sketch - lower view).
10. After ram and ram bed assembly has been positioned per one of the
conditions (A, 8, or C); lock the ram bed in place by first tightening
the center acorn nut and then the front and back acorn nuts. Should
either the front or back acorn nut be positioned beyond the front or
back comparable section of the ram bed, caution should be used so as
to not over tighten this particular nut to avoid bending the loose
guide at this point.
11. Re-position the hydraulic motor or transmission case support bracket
so that the universal assembly will be in a fairly straight line during
the portion of movement actually involved with the grinding of the
part. Secure nut.
If the instructions, as noted above have been followed correctly, it should
require no more than a slight adjustment to grind parts, set up per
condition A or 8, to size.
If the setting has been made per condition C, proceed as follows to
establish the forward limit of ram movement; --
a Screw positive stop forward (clockwise) until it contacts the
positive stop button localed in the ram bed.
b Next, turn positive stop screw counter-clockwise, equal to
depth of form to be ground into one side of the part plus an
amount equal to the space left between the work wheel and the
unground stock (See C above). This should produce parts very
close to final required dimension. Any slight adjustment may
now be made as required.
