David Griffin, Cavs GM, is continually seeking to improve the roster.
Cavs GM David Griffin tells Cleveland.com the following:
“No one is untouchable, and you’re never done building a team, so we’re always paying attention to what opportunities are out there,” Griffin told Northeast Ohio Media Group. “My tendency is always trying to do what we can do to improve the roster. But I’m not looking to create one so much as paying attention to what I’m hearing.”
“Fortunately, we’re blessed to have a lot of talent, but we’re also not blessed with a great depth of defensive talent,” Griffin said. “We need to improve in that area. That’s probably an area where we may need to act at some point to improve the roster.”
Interesting comments from the new GM of the Cavs. Griffin doesn’t want to just let things play out because there is a strong chance the end result wouldn’t be great. He realizes the defense is a legitimate issue and the only question is who will be the answer? We have heard names such as Timofey Mozgov, Larry Sanders, and even Roy Hibbert in the rumor mill but those could be just that: rumors. We just have to wait and see how the Cavs go about this issue. Time will tell if the issue is effort, or just a lack of defensive talent. The answer might be a little but of both.
