the high crystalline silica content (61 wt.%) influence the effect of
this agricultural waste into the brick body. In agreement with
other papers (Vieira et al., 2006; Teixeira et al., 2008), sugar cane
ash into ceramic bodies, due to the high quartz and low fluxing
components content, acts as a filler material reducing the ceramic
mass plasticity; this fact is confirmed by reduction of LS%, lower
WL% and LoI values and good mechanical properties.
