The basal diet was a maize- and soybean meal-based diet (Table 1) and was formulated tomeet National Research Council (NRC, 1994)-recommended requirements for all nutrients, whereas NAC diet was preparedby basal diet supplemented with 1 g/kg NAC (Cat. A7250, Sigma Chemical, Inc.).
