FAN, eventually also the changes in compositions of TSS were similar
(Fig. 2C–E). After fermentation, less than 200 mg g1 of carbohydrates
and 100 mg g1 of proteins, but more than 600 mg g1 of lipids were quantified in TSS (Fig. 2C–E). The majority of lipids
were, as also shown in Fig. 1G, not released and accumulated in
the remaining solid fraction. This is particularly interesting for a
further processing of the hydrolysate as it needs to be filter-sterilised
prior to use in biotechnological processes. Lipids in the hydrolysate
may agglutinate inside the filter and adversely affect the
filtration step. Additionally, the lipid rich TSS could be promising
feedstocks in biodiesel production
