larger than 5555 elements on the above Macintosh
make use of virtual memory, which causes
very long run times. For example, 6060 elements
(requiring 157 Mbytes of internal memory)
showed a run time of 514
h. In such cases an
alternative may be found in the normal approximation,
to be discussed in Section 6. This approximation,
however, is not included in our
programs, since these were intended to provide
exact probabilities.
The only data input of the PASCAL programs
consists of the two group sizes; the results files on
disk(ette) are automatically generated.
For those interested the PASCAL source codes
are accompanied by a README file with conversion
instructions for other programming
environments.
