Microencapsulation has a great potential for improving processing ability over a wide range of applications, as well as product performance, particularly in terms of controlled release and enhanced stability against external factors. Indeed, microcapsules,when firmly anchored within the material or coating material, can introduce new smart functionalities without affecting the look and feel of the material. In particular, the combination of microcapsules and coating allows the introduction of innovative properties that are often not possible with other existing technologies (Ghosh, 2006).
