If you ever feel the desire for a dramatic, adrenaline-fuelled photo shoot, Jay Philbrick of Philbrick Photography is the man to call. His stunning photographs are gathered from some very unique angles, high in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, USA. A professional climbing guide for over 10 years before changing directions and beginning a photography business alongside his wife, Vicki, Philbrick has managed to put his climbing skills to good use in his new career—one that requires scaling cliff faces to get the perfect shot.
Philbrick says that he has always been attracted to “contrasts of a beautiful subject in a stark or unlikely location” and his knowledge of cliffs in the area provided the perfect setting for his shoots. Years ago, a couple that had hired the photographer mentioned they were climbers, and this got the ball rolling. His present-day, extensive collection of images captured from great heights is the culmination of many photo sessions with a variety of clients that range from engaged couples to solo performers. Though these sessions provided some amazing shots, none of them are for the faint of heart, or those with a fear of heights—the ledge pictured is about 350 feet up in the air!
