Consistent with previous research (Newman, MacCoon, Vaughn, &
Sadeh, 2005; Ross, Benning, Patrick, Thompson & Thurston, 2008), the
secondary groups endorsed the most behavioral activation, but the difference
between the male subtypes was not significant; the primary
group's scores were higher than expected based on theory. This finding
may be attributed to limited power due to the small male sample, or indicate
that for non-forensic men, psychopathy is associated with an
overactive BAS regardless of subtype. Falkenbach et al. (2008) also failed
to find a subtype difference on BAS in their male college sample.
