The clinical characteristics and endothelial dysfunction and lowgrade
inflammation biomarker concentrations of the 557 participants
at baseline (CODAM-1) and at follow-up (CODAM-2)
are shown in Table 1. The dietary intakes for these participants
at baseline (CODAM-1) and at follow-up (CODAM-2) are
shown in Table 2.
At baseline (CODAM-1), individuals who did not contribute
data at follow-up (CODAM-2) were older and had a significantly
higher prevalence of diabetes, higher systolic blood
pressure, lower energy intake, lower liquor (but similar wine and
beer) consumption, and higher concentrations of sVCAM-1,
sICAM-1, CRP, IL-6 and IL-8 (data not shown).
